Self-portraits: Exploring the Art of the Rebus
Mr B.
Géza, 306 Maujer
Come celebrate pride with us! Together we will learn about the importance of secret codes in LGBTQ+ history and pay tribute to the gender outlaws and norm resistors who paved the way. We’ll explore rebus puzzles, which use individual letters and pictures to depict words and phrases, as a form of self-portraiture that can bring the hidden (and not so hidden) parts of our expansive identities to life.
This special all-ages learnshop will be led by poet-artist Mr. B. It includes discussion, writing prompts, graphic-arts journaling techniques, and quick drawing.
This is an in-person event, and it is free and open to participants aged 9+. Prior registration is recommended, and no prior experience required. All supplies will be provided, just bring a curious mind and an interest in making community in a creative space.
