Amant provides a stimulating and flexible environment for international practitioners to conduct their artistic research in New York for a period of three months. During this time, we expect our participants to be fully present and engaged throughout the program by attending all studio visits and events, while also making regular use of their assigned studio or workspace at our facility. Being part of this program means becoming an active member of our creative community—we value the connections, discussions, and collaborations that happen when practitioners come together.The residency comprises individual non-residential studios, a communal area with a kitchen, and access to outdoor spaces within Amant’s campus. All activities take place in person, and remote participation is not permitted under any circumstances, as physical presence is essential to the program’s collaborative nature. Please be advised that the Amant studios are not residential, and artists are expected to find their own housing accommodations.Amant provides roundtrip economy transport via flight, train or bus to NY, and a monthly allowance of $4,500.00 USD to partially offset the costs of research, accommodation, and day-to-day expenses. Residents also have the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of the artistic team at Amant and New York City’s cultural and academic community.

Our goal is to foster process-oriented practices and multiple forms of knowledge, and the programs developed for the residents (and in some cases to the general public) therefore take on different formats and temporalities. We organize studio visits with local artists and cultural producers, and visits to archives, museums, and cultural organizations that are relevant to our residents’ practices. Each New York Amant Studio and Research resident gets the opportunity to organize a For Your Reference program in which they share their ongoing conversations and research with the public.
